In celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day on 24 August, cut flower grower, Justine Scouller of Far Hill Flowers in Monmouthshire puts the final touches to the popular, traditional Ukrainian vinok, a flower crown of seasonal flowers worn by Maryna Melnykova. Maryna  has been living in Justine’s home since fleeing the war in Ukraine in April this year. The flower crown is a popular  symbol of Ukrainian culture. Flowers from the Farm members across the UK will be posting photographs of sunflowers on social media this week in support of the government’s #SunflowersForUkraine campaign.
