Capt Alfred Packer's watch.

A super-rare Rolex watch taken from the wrist of a captured German diver by a World War Two hero has emerged for sale for £30,000.

Captain Alfred Packer captured a team of German divers trying to blow up the bridge at Nijmegen in Holland during Operation Market Garden in 1944.

The enemy frogmen placed fixed charges to the underwater footings of the railway bridge and the nearby Waal road bridge but, in their exhausted state, it proved a bridge to far for the German divers and they exited the river in the middle of the Britsh troops.
Their exclusive Rolex Panerai watches were originally made for their Italian allies before they had exited the war, and are now highly prized by collectors.
