The medal awarded to an indestructible soldier who survived eight lance wounds at the Battle of Waterloo has sold for over £17,000.
Sergeant William Porteous had every part of his body pierced in the historic 1815 battle that sealed Emperor Napoleon's fate.
He was a member of the famous Scots Greys, 400 cavalrymen who were vastly outnumbered when they charged into action.
