Pictured: Cliftonville and Palm Bay were identified as possible sites for ground force invasion.
An incredibly detailed wartime invasion plan of Britain has been unearthed to reveal how seaside towns would have been destroyed if Hitler had got his way.
The chilling archive, which was compiled in August 1940 and reproduced in 1941, contains maps and photos of the key targets along the east coast and the midlands.
In the plans the landing site for a potential invasion is identified between Reculver and Herne Bay in Kent.
