A remarkable film of David Lloyd George's visit to Germany to meet Adolf Hitler in 1936 after which he described him as 'the greatest living German' has emerged for auction.
The unique black and white 16mm film which lasts 20 minutes shows former Prime Minister Lloyd George and his entourage twice meeting Hitler and driving along newly created autobahns.
The grainy footage captures Lloyd George with Hitler at a dinner party, him laying a wreath at a war memorial in Munich and the alarming sight of the Nazi and United Kingdom flags hanging together on a German building.
The film belongs to a British historian with a large collection of archive footage and is tipped to sell for £1,200.
