The first painting completed by artist Bob Ross on his legendary TV show has been put up for sale for £8m.

The late artist appeared in front of the camera for The Joy of Painting which ran from 1983 to 1994, a year before his death from cancer.

Ross is well known for his softly-spoken tone, whimsical catchphrases like 'let's add some happy little trees' as well as his voluminous permed hairdo.
The Joy of Painting, an instructional programme, is still regularly repeated today on BBC Four.
