Fascinating maps have emerged showing the evolution of the London Underground from the first iconic design to the present day.

The stunning collection is made up of 210 different maps of the transport system showing its development through time.

Henry Beck was working as a draughtsman when he was commissioned to design a passenger-friendly representation of the subterranean system in 1933.

He realised that commuters did not need an accurate map of exactly where the trains went, just the order of the stops.
