Victorian gap year album captures scottish farmhands exotic world tour looking for work..

A stunning photo album collated by a Scottish farmhand documenting his world tour has been unearthed after 130 years.

The agricultural worker arrived in Tasmania in November 1886 but was only there for a few days before he carried on to New Zealand where he spent several months working on the land.

The following April, he left New Zealand and headed to the United States, briefly stopping off in Honolulu, Hawaii.

His first stop in the United States was San Francisco where he photographed the Golden Gate before the landscape was dominated by the Golden Gate Bridge.

His gap year of sorts then took him up through Colorado and Salt Lake City to Canada before he finished in New York.
