British aviation historians have spoken of their disgust after a World War Two fighter plane found entombed in the desert was given a 'hideous' makeover.<br />
<br />
The crashed RAF P40 Kittyhawk was discovered in 2012 in 'time capsule' condition in the middle of the Sahara where it had lain untouched for 70 years.<br />
<br />
There was evidence its tragic pilot, Flight Sergeant Dennis Copping, survived the crash but died from exposure in the inhospitable conditions. <br />
<br />
Now the aircraft has gone on display at the El Alamein Museum having undergone a 'truly awful and unsympathetic' restoration at the hands of the Egyptian government.
