A British gardener has beaten the Americans at their own game by growing the world's tallest tomatillo plant - using composted tea.

Kevin Fortey grew the giant plant from seeds he was given during a trip to a Mexican fruit growing community in California in 2019.
Tomatillo is a fruit that looks like a cross between a cherry tomato and a gooseberry. It is a staple of Mexican cuisine and is commonly used to make salsa verde.
The plants are grown in hot climates such as in Central America, the Caribbean and Florida.
