Grandmother Maxine Horton with the fine.

A grandmother who was fined £100 for staying in a fast food restaurant car park for 18 minutes too long has won her appeal.

Maxine Horton was penalised after parking for one hour and 18 minutes outside a KFC in Poole, Dorset, when she took her grandchildren there for a treat meal.

The parking penalty from Euro Car Parks stated she had been in contravention of the Wessex Gate retail park's car park one hour limit.

But it has now been quashed after Mrs Horton wrote to the head of KFC to tell him it was 'virtually impossible' to get a group of children to pick a meal, eat it and use the toilets in that restricted timeframe.
