The humble kettle has been given a modern makeover finally putting paid to the problem of wasting energy by boiling more water than you need.
The futuristic device allows tea drinkers to boil water directly in their mugs using state-of-the-art induction technology.
The clever kettle heats water by placing a mug on a special induction plate then putting a magnetic metal rod in the liquid.
The gadget, called Miito, is the brainchild of young entrepreneurs Nils Chudy and Jasmina Grase, former students of the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
