The gold watch belonging to the richest man on the Titanic has sold for world record £1.175m, making it the most expensive artefact relating to the ill-fated liner.
Although the disaster, which claimed the lives of 1,522 people, happened 112 years ago, the story of the Titanic still captivates people and collectors worldwide today.
Interest was renewed in it after the wreck was discovered in the north Atlantic in 1985 after 70 years of searching.
And since James Cameron's epic movie Titanic was released in 1997, the fascination has increased even more.
