Environmental campaigners intent on saving ancient woodland that inspired Roald Dahl from HS2 bulldozers are steeling themselves for action.

An army of over 50 protesters have already taken to the trees

There have been campaigners at the Jones Hill Wood site since before Christmas, but it has been properly 'inhabited' since February.

West Berkshire councillor Steve Masters joined the campaigners eight weeks ago and has been living in a treehouse there 55ft off the ground, conducting council meetings in "extreme remote working" conditions.

Mr Masters said: "We are concerned environmentalists. There's 125 miles where this is happening, Jones Hill Wood is just one of 108 ancient woodlands affected.
