The Golden Arrow breaking the Land Speed Record at Daytona in 1929 - powered by a huge ice cooled 24 litre Napier Lion aero engine.
Golden shot in the arm - Beautiful record breaker Golden Arrow is to receive new funding 90 years after smashing the Land speed record for Britain.
The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu has been awarded £75,000 by Arts Council England to allow fresh research into the historic machine and the collections relating to it, as well as some conservation work on particularly fragile items.
The distinctive 1929 Golden Arrow was a wonder of its time, a harmonious blend of technology and design, produced a masterpiece of Art Deco expression which paved the way for two decades of unbroken British world record-breaking success.
With Major Henry Segrave in the driving seat, the arrow shattered its target and set a new Land Speed Record of 231.36mph at Daytona Beach in Florida in March 1929.
