Princess Diana once made an incognito visit to a Dorset beauty spot and stumbled across a nudist colony, her former bodyguard revealed today.

Ken Wharfe said in the late 1980s the princess asked if he would take her to Studland Bay after he had waxed lyrical about it.

He drove her down to the south coast in a black Ford Mondeo and they took the Sandbanks chain ferry with the general public. One man in a builder's van looked into the car and saw the Royal in the passenger seat and told his friend 'she doesn't half look like Diana'.
Diana, wearing a jacket given to her by Michael Jackson, was left on her own to walk a stretch of the beach by Ken who gave her a walky talky and waited in a nearby pub. But after 40 minutes he got a message from a laughing princess who told him 'you never told me about the nudist colony!'.
She had been approached by a dozen males in the buff at naturist spot Knoll Beach who apparently had no idea who she was.
