A 12-year-old girl is taking the powerboat world by storm and has been named British National Champion in her first year competing.

Elsie Walker is the youngest driver to be crowned champion and regularly competes against boys and girls who are four years older than her and have much more racing experience.

Despite being too young to learn to drive, she races across the water at up to 58mph.

The schoolgirl from Poole, Dorset, completed her training in March and has won nearly every major race event she has competed in this year.
