The new Gigantomo tomato plants can grow enormous fruits up to four inches wide and as heavy as 3lbs - bigger and heavier than an average cabbage.<br />

The huge fruit dwarfs a standard salad tomato, which on average weigh in at a meagre four ounces. <br />

The revolutionary tomatoes, the biggest variety ever bred commercially, have gone on the market in Britain just in time for gardeners to get their green fingers on them before spring arrives.
