A quarter plate tintype portrait.
With the trend for instant images and all things digital, one photographer has turned his back on 21st century technology to embrace the 1800s.
These black and white portraits look like they could have been taken 150 years ago, but they have all been taken in the last five years as part of a project to resurrect a Victorian photo technique.
Instead of the quick snaps and filters of instagram and other digital apps, each picture takes up to 20 minutes to process.
But photographer Andy Martin, 30, says it was the instant photo of its day.
