Town hall bureaucrats have told residents on a street called Jubilee Road to take down bunting because it is a hazard to large vehicles.

The street in Poole, Dorset, is the one place one would expect bunting to be allowed over the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend.

But after Jeff Williams strung up lines of Union Jack flags 14ft across the street he received a visit from a local council officer.

The pensioner hung the bunting 14ft off the ground but was told it did not conform to regulations and it needed to be 2ft higher.
