A fascinating Railway Children archive put together by the beloved film's director Lionel Jeffries is being sold by his son 53 years later.

Jeffries also wrote the screenplay for the 1970 big screen adaptation of Edith Nisbet's 1905 classic children's book about a family who moved from London to 'The Three Chimneys' in Yorkshire.

He kept hold of his annotated first draft script and letters of congratulations from directing great Alfred Hitchcock and dancing icon Fred Astaire following the film's positive reception.

The archive also contains dozens of previously unseen behind the scenes filming photos taken by Ronnie Pilgrim featuring the actors Jenny Agutter, Gary Warren and Sally Thompsett.
