Long hot summer a boost for the bee man of Salisbury Plain.
One of Britains last wilderness area's is a hive of activity this summer as an army of busy bees swarm across Salisbury plain in Wiltshire.
Major Chris Wilkes commands an astonishing 8 million bees in 150 hives dotted across the unique enviroment of the plain. The chalkland host's an amazingly wide range of rare wildflowers as 60,000 acres of SSSI have never been treated with modern pesticides.
The wet winter and dry spring have produced perfect conditions for the diverse flora of the grasslands, with the isolation of the plain creating a cornucopia of the top nectar flowers in the UK producing a honey with the distinctive flavour of one of Britains last wilderness areas.
