There's an oil boom in the heart of Hampshire - Charlotte Harding amongst this years bumper crop of Chamomile at Frith Farm near Basingstoke.

The farm is one of the worlds largest producers of Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis), the oil of which is used extensively by the pharmaceutical and fragrance industries worldwide.

250 acres of the family farm are now covered with the white pompom like double flowers that contain the essential oil, before harvesting starts next week. The freshly cut flowers are then steamed to distill the sapphire coloured precious oil.
